Storm Drain Mural Project

Lewis Creek Awareness

The Storm Drain Mural Project is a public Art initiative led by the Staunton Augusta Art Center in partnership with the Lewis Creek Watershed Advisory Committee. This effort transforms ordinary storm drains into impactful works of Art that draw attention to the health of our local waterways.

Because storm drains flow directly into Lewis Creek, these murals serve as clear visual reminders that what enters our streets flows untreated into the creek system. Through bold, engaging imagery, the project highlights the fragility of these ecosystems and encourages a stronger sense of community responsibility and environmental stewardship.

Work is set to begin soon, with artists Andrew Davis and Steve Kizer leading the first mural installation—marking the start of what we hope will become a growing, community-wide initiative.
