SAAC Happenings for Spring

Exciting times here at SAAC with tons to tell you about! Just to start with this Friday the 26th we have several happenings going on. In the morning for breakfast from 8:45 to 10:30 we will be hosting Creative Mornings and Danielle Unique McEwen. Then in the afternoon from 2 to 3:30 we will be hosting Agora Studio who will be presenting architectural designs reimaging the Wharf and and how it interacts with the Lewis Creek watershed. Agora was here a few weeks ago and these students' designs are truly awe-inspiring and a testament to arts' ability to imagine a better future!

Following all that exciting Friday, the following week for First Friday we will be hosting the opening of the annual Mental Health exhibit, Art a Voice, in our upstairs galleries. I'm particularly excited for this year's opening for a host of reasons. First off this year's opening will not only have some amazing art but will feature spoken word and music by Steele Dunn. Additionally, we have a guest curator for the exhibit in recent University of Tennessee Knoxville fine arts graduate, Nicole O'Connor, who has done an amazing job curating this exhibit!

After that on the horizon, we are gearing up for our first Art Festival of the year, Art on the Town over Memorial Day Weekend at the Sunspots Pavilion downtown. Mark your calendar as this year will be the best yet with a host of tremendously talented artists!

Finally, we are also getting ready for our biennial Gala celebration at the end of June! Be sure to check our website out for tickets, to become a Gala Sponsor, or to donate original works of art or experiences for our auction. Remember all proceeds go directly supporting the Art Center and Arts in Staunton and Augusta County!

Hope to see you soon at the Art Center!

Executive Director

Staunton Augusta Art Center

P.S. Have you been by to see our current exhibit, Staunton Emerging Artists, yet? If not don't sleep on it! It's some of the best art by Staunton's best!

P.P.S. With all this going on, I nearly forgot the kids! Don't worry though, our Saturday Art Labs are back for the spring and you can register your kids for classes online. This week's class is focused on One-Point Perspective which is something every budding artist needs to master!
