The Latent Image: A Photography Exhibition
August 7 – September 20, 2026
 

In celebration of the 200th anniversary of photography as a medium, The Latent Image invites Artists to submit work for a juried exhibition exploring both the history and evolving future of photographic practice.
 

We are seeking a wide range of work, including traditional and new media approaches: analog photography, alternative processes, digital manipulation, photo-based sculpture, and experimental formats.
 

Selected works will be featured in an exhibition culminating in a Weekend of Photography from September 18–20, featuring workshops, Artist talks, and related programming.
 

Awards
 

• $200 — Best Traditional Media

• $200 — Best New Media

• $100 — Runner-Up

• 2 × $50 — Honorable Mentions
   

Submission Guidelines
 

To apply, please submit:

• Image files: JPEG format (kept to a manageable size), labeled:
  LastName_FirstName_Title

• ​

• Supporting PDF including:

  • Name

  • Email

  • Phone number

  • Artwork title

  • Dimensions

  • Price

  • Category (Traditional or New Media, for award consideration)

  • Optional: Artwork description, Artist bio, and CV
     

After uplaoding all files, click submit and you will be directed to a product checkout page to complete your entry fee. The price at checkout covers your current submission packet (up to three images). Artists may submit multiple times.
 

Fees
 

• $15 — 1 image

• $25 — 2 images

• $20 — 3 images

All submission fees directly support exhibition awards and Weekend of Photography programming.

We strive to keep submission fees affordable; however, we recognize that for some Artists any fee may present an economic hardship. We do not want cost to be a barrier to participation. To request a hardship waiver, please email info@saartcenter.org
 

Sales
 

• Work will be sold on a 60/40 commission split, with 60% to the Artist

• All accepted work must be received by August 1, 2026

• Mailed submissions must include a prepaid return shipping label
