Hello fellow art lovers!
My name is Angus Carter, I am the new executive director here at the Staunton Augusta Art Center. For those of you that don't know me, I am a local artist, professor of photography at Mary Baldwin University and former board President here at SAAC. I am extremally excited to be here at SAAC to head up all the wonderful art events we have lined up for this fall! Coming up we will be returning with our LOVE sign to Staunton's Pride festival, painting dragon eggs at Queen City Mischief and Magic, starting our fall children's classes at our Saturday Art Labs and hosting our 56th annual Art in the Park festival this coming Labor Day weekend in Gypsy Hill Park! Below you can read all about these and all the other amazing art events we have lined up!
Thank you,
Angus Carter

Appreciated and anticipated as one of Virginia’s longest-running arts festivals and a 2023 Best of Virginia Winner from Virginia Living Magazine, the family-friendly Art in the Park will feature the fine art and fine crafts of over 70 local and regional artists. We are happy to say that this is the largest Art in the Park since the years of the pandemic! Visitors are encouraged to admire and purchase artwork, chat with artists, and enjoy food provided by a variety of local vendors and food trucks. Aspiring young artists are welcome to participate in a children’s art activity area. Your weekend’s chill-in-the-park soundtrack will be curated by local DJ Steve the Painter. Staunton’s only #LOVEworks (Virginia is for ART Lovers!) will be featured prominently, inspiring selfies, family photos, and posts on social media, enduring memories of a fun-filled event!
