CALL FOR ENTRIES

Every year, SAAC accepts applications from individual artists, curators, and groups for solo and group shows. Artwork encompassing a full range of styles, techniques, and content will be considered, and work representing new or traditionally underrepresented perspectives and experiences is particularly welcome.

  • Exhibit Length: 5-6 weeks.

  • Format: SAAC galleries in the R.R Smith Center for History & Art (20. S. New Street). Artists receive a commission of 60% retail price. Exhibits are installed by Art Center staff. Taxes, marketing and sales support are paid for by the Art Center.

  • Application Submission Window:  Varies

  • Application Fee?  No.

  • Additional Fees?  No.

ART ON THE TOWN

Debuting in 2022, Art on the Town is SAAC's newest outdoor art festival.  This small but lively event serves as a late spring “bookend” with our annual Art in the Park over Labor Day weekend. Since its inception, Art in the Town has been held at Sunspots Pavilion in the Wharf and attracts folks from the Staunton Farmers Market and businesses in the Wharf historic district.  This festival includes music and children's activities. 

  • Event Length: 2 days over Memorial Day weekend

  • Format: Sunspots Pavilion in downtown Staunton. Artists provide their own tents and equipment and retain 100% of their sales revenue.

  • Application Submission Window:  January 15-March 1st.

  • Application Fee?  Yes (free to SAAC members).

  • Booth Fee?  Yes.

ART IN THE PARK

For over 50 years, SAAC has hosted Art in the Park in historic Gypsy Hill Park. This family-friendly highlights the fine art and fine crafts of local and regional artists.  We welcome everyone for a weekend of art, food, music, and art activities for the whole family. Visitors are encouraged to admire and purchase artwork, chat with artists, and enjoy food provided by a variety of vendors.  Aspiring artists, young and old, are welcome to participate in a children’s art activity area. 

  • Event Length: 2 days over Labor Day weekend

  • Format:  Held in Staunton's Gypsy Hill Park. Artists provide their own tents and equipment and retain 100% of their sales revenue.

  • Application Submission Window:  January 15-May 1st (rolling)

  • Application Fee?  Yes (free to SAAC members).

  • Booth Fee?  Yes.

ART FOR GIFTS

Art for Gifts is a unique boutique holiday shopping experience featuring handmade fine arts and crafts by local and regional artists.  From traditional holiday presents such as greeting cards and ornaments, to mixed media artwork and textiles, the galleries offer a wide range of one-of-a-kind artful and thoughtful gifts for friends and family. 

  • Event Length: Event Length: 8-10 weeks from mid-November to December 31st

  • Format:  Held in SAAC galleries (20. S. New Street). Artists provide inventory through event and are paid a  commission of 60% retail price.  Taxes, marketing and sales staff are paid for by the Art Center.

  • Application Submission Window:  July to mid-August

  • Application Fee?  Yes (free to SAAC members).

  • Additional Fees?  No.
