Welcome to our Spring Semester Course Schedule. Please scroll down for our registration policies and payment information.
AFTER SCHOOL ART CLUB
Tuesdays // 3:30-6:00 pm FLEX (read below) // February 7- May 23 (No class March 28)
Students may be dropped off and picked up anytime between 3:30-6.
Ages 9-15
$225, full semester, 15 sessions
$75, 4 sessions
$25, Single trial session
This club is for self-motivated art lovers who need a space to spread out and work among their peers as they explore new media and techniques. This class is geared toward middle school students, but we will accept younger students who are able to work independently, as well as high school students who need space to complete portfolio assignments for college admissions. Weekly emphasis on different media, themes or materials will inspire new understandings and provide opportunities for students to explore.
The studio is open and the teacher is available from 3:30-6. Unlike other classes that have a firm start and end, this class is designed for students to be able to drop in whenever they get out of school and get picked up whenever convenient for the parent. An instructor is in the studio each day and available to assist as needed. They will demonstrate new techniques and model safe handling of materials, but there will be no formal lesson that all students must complete. Instead, each student is able to explore as desired and continue to develop skills in their area of interest, while being encouraged to explore new media and techniques and relate them to their field.

Join us for Spring Break Camp as we discover amazing sights around downtown Staunton and use the buildings and views as inspiration for all sorts of artwork. Each student will receive a sketchbook to use as we roam around Queen City each morning, documenting what we see and then head back to the studio for paintings, watercolor and design projects. We will learn about plein air in terms of technique, taking a sketch from concept to finished work and then about other artists like Monet and Hopper who also captured a place and a moment in their artwork. Join the fun!
