Week 1, June 16-20,
9 a.m.- Noon

AGES 4-5: Trek through the Amazon
with Beth Lint

Learn about the importance of the rainforest and explore
various art methods and techniques to portray the beauty
of tropical flora and fauna.

AGES 6-8: Face to Face
with Sandra Carter
From the faces of Picasso to your own self-portrait, learn
to portray the human form in various ways through paper
mosaics, wire sculptures, and magazine collage.

AGES 9-11: Crayon Batik with Sara Fultz
Have you ever wanted to design your own shoes, t-shirt,
or even pillowcases? Learn about the history of batik
and create your own permanent, brightly colored designs
when you adapt this traditional process to decorate your
own items.

LATE BLOOMING ARTISTS (INCLUDING
MOMS AND DADS!): Beginner Stained
Glass with Lisa Morrison

Learn the beautiful art of stained glass when you create
colored objects such as a sun catcher, decorations for
your garden, and night lights for your little ones. $10
additional materials fee
 


Week Two, June 23-27,
9 a.m. - Noon

AGES 4-5: Florals in Art with Tina Purdy
Everything is coming up roses, poppies, irises, and daisies!
You’ll study botanicals in art through the ages. Learn to
create 2-D and 3-D florals with paint, pastels, tissue paper,
and a variety of embellishments.

AGES 6-8: America the Beautiful
with Katie Spurlock
Celebrate our nation’s birthday by designing and making
festive decorations while learning lots of interesting facts
about the birth of our nation. $10 additional materials fee

AGES 9-11: Your World Through a
Camera Lens with Maribeth Nolde

Go on photo excursions, learn to compose a good
photograph, and create a book with your own photos.
Bring 2 disposable cameras (36 exposures each); we’ll
provide the processing. $10 additional materials fee.

LATE BLOOMING ARTISTS (INCLUDING
MOMS AND DADS!): Illustrating Plants
with Jennifer Bass

Learn about basic botany by combining knowledge
of herbal and edible plants with the skills needed to
effectively draw them.


Week Three, July 7-11,
9 a.m.-Noon

AGES 4-5: Self Portrait Drawing
with Jennifer Bass

Focus on designing your own self portraits that express
different aspects of your personality. You’ll choose from a
variety of mediums to portray both realistic and creative
drawings.

AGES 6-8: Paper Mache with Beth Lint
By folding, twisting, tearing, and cutting paper like the
great Henri Matisse, students will explore the wide variety
and uses of paper in several art projects from designing
paper cut cityscapes to 3-D playgrounds.

AGES 9-11: Island Printmaking
and Jewelry with Linda Leffel

Learn the basics of printmaking and macramé jewelry as
you explore the Caribbean culture of Haiti.

LATE BLOOMING ARTISTS (INCLUDING
MOMS AND DADS!): Designing a
Dream Home with Beth Young

Learn to read a blueprint, draft in scale, and design the
interior of your dream home. You’ll learn how to apply
color psychology, textures, ergonomics, finishes, and
furniture!

Week Four, July 14-18,
9 a.m.- Noon

AGES 4-5: L’Histoire de France
with Lana Elder


Beginning with prehistoric cave painting, and moving
to 20th Century Modernism, learn about the history of
France and the amazing art and architecture through
the ages. Use a wide variety of mediums to explore the
techniques of the masters.

AGES 6-8: Art of the Ancients
with Beth Lint

Come discover the artistic contributions of ancient China,
Egypt, Rome, and the Americas as you explore block
printing, pottery, weaving, and more!

AGES 9-11: Beginning Drawing
with Mary Shira

In this class, learn the basics of perspective and 2-D
design as you experiment with charcoal pencils to
practice drawing landscapes, animals, and more.

LATE BLOOMING ARTISTS (INCLUDING
MOMS AND DADS!): Stained Glass
Bonding Techniques with Frank Duff

Cut, bond, and fuse glass pieces together and learn to
create beautiful 3-D art of stained glass! $10 additional
materials fee.


Week Five, July 21-25,
9 a.m.-Noon

AGES 4-5: Crazy Art with Kimberly Cook
You’ll use lots of different, fun materials while making
novelty objects such as “wacky space balls,” marbleized
paint and scratch art in this class!


AGES 6-8: Experiments in Still Life
with Jennifer Bass

Learn new artistic techniques by experimenting with a
different medium each day. Create your own still life
masterpieces using charcoal, colored pencil, pastels,
and more.

AGES 9-11: Creative Architecture
with Lynda L’Aurora

Have you ever wanted to design a building that is a
reflection of you? Come plan, build, and decorate studies
of a building that exemplify who you are. Later, you’ll
move on to setting your building in a creative context by
designing streets, gardens, and lakes.

LATE BLOOMING ARTISTS (INCLUDING
MOMS AND DADS!): Not-Your-Typical Art
History Class with Mary Shira

An overview of Western Art that doesn’t put you to sleep.
Go from ancient cave paintings, through the Renaissance,
and into 20th Century “-ism’s” in just one week!


Week Six, July 28-August 1,
9 a.m.-Noon

AGES 4-5: Wheels of Color
with Catherine Fields

Begin to hone your artistry skills by learning the basics of
the color wheel, 3-D perspective techniques, and how to
mix secondary and tertiary colors.

AGES 6-8: Oceans of Fun with Beth Lint
Set sail with us! Adventure awaits those who are interested
in the deep blue sea and what might live down below. This
class features creative ocean projects including fantastic
painted fish, shark pop-ups, and sunken treasure chest
collages.

AGES 9-11: Basketry with Jennifer Bass
You’ll begin this class learning basic terminology and
cultural information behind this Appalachian craft and
end having the skills and knowledge to make different
kinds of baskets from the materials in your own back yard!

LATE BLOOMING ARTISTS (INCLUDING
MOMS AND DADS!): Books, Books
with Allison Church

Join a class that involves binding several sketchbooks
using various methods, including accordion. Then make
your own scrapbook to fill with your personal photos
and mementos.
